Founded in 1892 with production starting in 1894. Demolished 1986. The first distillery in Scotland to introduce mechanical maltings (Saladin boxes), maltings ceased operating in 1980. Neil Gunn the Scottish novelist, and once Excise officer here, wrote of Glen Mhor Until a man has had the luck to chance upon a perfectly matured malt, he does not really know what whisky is.
